The Blinking Organism X You Spleen Me Round
Installation Performance:

As an addition to her original three part series work The Blinking Organism X You Spleen Me Round, Joo Choon Lin continues her exploration of the materiality of the human body and the mystery of emotions. She fashions her version of the human spleen out of everyday materials, common plastic and foam. It is machine like, awash in purple light and emanating deep bass. Performers with inflatable wings skate with walkers that are both as an aid for novice skaters, but also foam sculptures that exist as an installation after the party is over.
Just as the mystery of the construct of the human body and its emotions continues to fascinate us, Choon Lin's approach to sculpture also expresses another more contemporary fascination, that of the synthetic reality. The transparency of plastic, and the lightness of foam are very much sculptural expressions of digital environments such as vaporwave or Minecraft, where the magic of its reality lies within the mystery of the ghost within the machine.
